Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

O9

The O9 system is a complete piece of sh-t. The high-and-mighty leaders spent several million dollars on this system every year. thinking it would replace Excel and reduce the workload for planners. In reality, every planner now has double the workloads. Leaders now hope AI can take all over.

Well I am really glad we unified technology. It’s been really great seeing the synergies and multiplication of outputs come to life. Why have one product org when you can have two… with one of them creating O9?

To be clear, no individual dev is at fault here. The lame duck managers and up…all the way back to rat… and everyone in between is at fault.

Tech management is running an anti transparency and accountability program. I don’t blame them, it’s ingenious. Get paid a ton and dont deliver what you say you’re going to.

And when it doesn’t work, blame it on the business.

We absolutely could run Nike with half the tech org. Couldn’t do it with the current management. Cut the bs management that creates a bunch on intra-tech infighting… stop signing contracts with obvious grift (lookin at you Adobe and orange apron guy)… and we could have less wasted effort. Less teams. Less cr-p built that isn’t used by the business.

We need tech. But we don’t need a tech org that still hires and promotes based on caste. And creates nothing but tech for tech scope.

When was the last time we had a great business driving success that came from tech. I mean an actual definitive increase in revenue; or immense savings… so impactful that shareholders would care.

When?

In Nike. system is not a tool for business, but a tool for political struggle.

the implimentation was so bad and was plagued with corruption (AW-AC-RAT) that even o9 doesnt list nike on its website.

What a joke, excel was much better. I still use my own excel to correct O9s cr-p outputs

Yep agreed. Never produced an accurate forecast after years of development and millions of dollars spent. Planners have to spend multiple hours fixing issues. Atleast the excel macros worked. Even Worse are the ex O9 employees hired who worked on Nike implementation. They created an unworkable piece of sh-t then were rewarded with a lifetime job at Nike. What a joke. SEC by other means.
Execution is so damn poor in tech. It's a miracle how the damn thing functions.
