Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Chatgpt and Copilot access

We were denied access to chatgpt or other AI sites before except spark. Today they are allowing chatgpt and copilot usage within the enterprise. Is Elevance moving towards AI for everything and see if they can reduce day to day work time or people? Boon or bane for employees

Once we start denying mass quantities of claims, providers will start dropping like flies. Soon after members will start crabbing to their employers and then the employers will find other carriers. A.I. will come up with something along the lines of “we need more RIF’s”. I’m not a big A.I. fan.

@pr Don’t know why you are getting a downvote for this. That is the goal to reduce staff. Whatever cr-p they are feeding us that we will do the harder things because AI does the easier things in less time is just plain stupid. Basically they will just overload the person doing the “harder” things because some vp will say we can have less staff now due to AI. Same old, same old like wr have now where people are doing the jobs of 3 people because of riffs

The unspoken goal is to reduce the company to one employee plus a dog. The employee will be there to feed the dog. The dog will be there to keep the employee from messing with the AI system.

We were told in our last meeting with the staff VP that there will be a reduction in workforce as a result of AI, which will replace a portion of nurses in utilization management

Yes, keep your heads buried in the sand believing everything corporate tells you to believe. It will become clear when you get invited to a call where HR is offering you a rif package stating you have 30 days to leave.

@at they are tracking g everything we do, every page we visit and how long we are on every page. We get a print out showing how many minutes we spend “working” and non work functions like entering our time. They to,d us it’s to see how we work, for improvement.

@at....ah, no. Its not that black and white...AI tools aren't here to track your work or even replace all the jobs. You sound like a person in the 1980s screaming "computers are going to replace humans ". AI is good....and scary. But we use AI everyday in our normal lives...but it is scary. Embrace AI because its not going away...figure out how you can use it in this job and your next one. I use Spark and Chat GPT and have actually learned a lot of useful things. And no, im not from HR...im just a guy leaning into the future and trying to stay relevant.

Enterprise AI installations are tracking everything employees do to determine how you work, how you go about solving problems, how you complete tasks, etc. The goal is to use the information to both automate to replace humans and to train your junior lower paid replacements when you exit the company. https://www.wsj.com/lifestyle/careers/ai-knowledge-capture-employees-a69a0e1c?gaa_at=eafs&gaa_n=AWEtsqfJ_8hBsYkRIM2mp6GBREgzj1RWfsm7m3JwuuLYw1hiTslsuPB2oeHRAIjISXg%3D&gaa_ts=6993f511&gaa_sig=uFrc3c5NaU2qH0J4EfRD8Mn1Oq3XghXprr0oC_-bGnaqYK5MHfj7cJchTlgWVQi3OSJnypNfYDPevTrrNQo0Qg%3D%3D
