Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Last week I did not come into the office but worked from home all week. I didn't tell my manager either. Friday afternoon I got a email from HR

about a Tuesday morning Teams meeting they want to do with me and that I do not need to be in the office for this meeting. I have been thinking if they caught me or not. In any given week I may see my Ford manager once if at all when we pass each other in the hallway. Manager is away from our group a lot saying they have a lot of meetings to attend to in other buildings.
I'm not sure yet if I will do Tuesday's morning meeting with HR at my home or go into the office an do it there.

@OP You didn't go to the office when you should, and now that HR is telling you to stay home, you want to go to the office? SMH, you have a problem, and it is not Ford. Who do you think you are? James Dean in Rebel without a cause? LOL.

In any business, where you are the employee, the contract you sign is an exchange of wages for labor, under the terms stipulated by the company, as long as they comply with the laws of the land. You don't follow the terms of the company, you can kiss goodbye your job. If you don't even let your manager know it ahead of time, don't expect your manager to defend you.

You can get the boot today, or you can get away with it, depending of your age, salary, position and connections inside the company. Old fa-t with pension? You just handed yourself in a silver platter. Young and stupid? HR may keep you with a warning. Brownnose? You are just management material at Ford and HR wants to talk about your next promotion...

You are certainly not a Lincoln employee, such acts of non collaboration in a first class luxury automotive company are not tolerated.

I don't think this is a legit post. HR usually asks your manager and that's it.

@cb That's not exactly accurate. Happened to me, move out of MI during covid, Sept. 25 came and went, got the boot in Oct, got 9 months severance and can still get unenjoyment after the 9 months is up.

Should just badge in, stay for two hours, then go home if you’re going to play this game.

Why did you do that? Honestly curious. Do you want to get fired? Was it a test? Were you protesting RTO?

Remember, if they fire you for this it's a "for cause" separation. That means no severance and no unemployment.

I'd say this may be a healthy object lesson for you and your team. You may get lucky or you may become their poster child of what not to do if you want to keep your job.

Why push it in these times? Why do unnecessary things that makes it EZ to get rid of you?

Hope it all works out Superstar.

You’re supposed to be in 4 days a week so if you’re not in trouble for that now you would’ve been. Your supervisor receives an email for employees out of compliance and they have to defend why you weren’t in office. Depending if they like you then you may be safe. Silent layoffs have been ongoing so you could just be a part of that.
