Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Stuck and scared

I'm terrified of losing my job. I've been trying to find something else, anything, just in case, but the market is dead. Every email notification makes my heart stop. This is going to be a brutal month.

Oracle is huge, even if there was a layoff most likely you could be fine.

"Polish you resume is the BEST advice !!!"

Definitely better than wasting time polishing your bishop.

This is why you need to have a plan and a financial "emergency fund".

Either that or you suffer from The Oracle Doormat Principle. Don't laugh though, it's a real thing.

@dc Not the easiest thing to do, but you are so right, you HAVE to, even if you bank whatever tax refunds you get if you can't spare it from your salary. That's a lesson I wish I had learned a LONG time ago, before I started at O.

These days, your employer can get rid of you at very short notice.

Living paycheck to paycheck means you are effectively a hostage to your employer.

Do you expect layoffs this week? There are so many comments about coming layoffs but not precised…

You are suffering because of the American political system. The Oracle Administration is unlock step with the national!

@a7
Yes, and at the end of the day OP is probably on the list.

That is what management is banking on. So you stay year after year with no salary increase, no RSUs, etc.

@a1 OP has reason to be nervous, especially if they are in the US. The waiting, and the rumors, and speculation aren't helping either, plus the dead job market is no comfort.

I have survived a LOT of layoffs over my 25+ years at Oracle, until this one got me in September. And I'm finding almost nothing but ghost jobs and scams.

There is no predicting who or what org is going to be hit or when. No rhyme or reason at all except maybe people making too much money and O thinking AI is going to pick up the slack.

You are suffering more as a result of your imagination than reality. You said this is going to be a brutal month. What would you say if you got your March paychecks?
