Thread regarding AMN Healthcare Services Inc. layoffs

HR announcement

Just popped in and was surprised to not see a thread on the announcement this week. It's creating gossip for sure, would like to hear from people who feel they can speak freely though. I don't have dealings with them directly, but based on the comments I've seen in here, that seems to be a good thing. Do people think this will improve the culture? Are people relieved or worried what could come after this?

One of the HRBPs was involved in some questionable decisions during last year’s HR layoffs. She’s no longer with the company, but those who remain have not earned my trust. From what I’ve observed, their primary function seems to be acting as gatekeepers for leadership and serving as a sounding board, rather than driving meaningful strategy. The HRBP role here does not appear to operate at the same strategic level as it does in other organizations; instead, it feels more like a well-compensated liaison position with limited impact. The company really needs to find a forward thinking HR leader and reevaluate the HR roles and vision.

@e7 aren’t the HRBP part of HR? How are they complicit?

The destruction was done. This came late. The existing people in HR are broken. The new people in HR are useless. Eventually it will get better but nothing will be the same. The trust in the HR business partners other leaders in the business who have stayed silent and complicit are not easily forgotten. People need to understand they are just numbers there. That’s the culture.

I’m not in HR, but I feel like it was the right move because the culture has taken a complete nosedive & from the stories I’ve heard, it was horrific in HR. I am hoping things get better, but I’m not optimistic. I’m just here for the bottom line, a paycheck. Everything else is irrelevant.
