How hard will the layoffs affect headcounts in engineering?

Is this a hypothetical question? Rumor?
We are swamped and cannot keep up with the requests from Ops and Procurement as it is. Our department has a long parking lot list that we have no manpower to get to. If the lemmings want to swim out to sea again, nothing stopping them from another layoff. But you can say goodbye to any support that improves anything, we’ll just be answering that day’s tags.
What layoffs are you talking about? And depends what YOUR department is and WHAT YOU specifically do. Even then if there is a rif, noone is safe.
