It's not an NDA project or a secret but, while not part of it I know a few who are and nobody knows WHY this is so important to Dell.. Obviously there is a reason but that reason is a mystery to everyone.
My understanding, at least from what I've heard is that it's about securing labs with fireawlls that are monitoring East to West traffic, rather than just N - S/ traffic. Which to me means that a lab was breached at some point and hacker had full reign to traverse inside the network...
But, I don't think that's the case because...
If it were a breach of confidential information/customer data then by law, Dell would have had to disclose that within 30 days so, I don't think it was a breach/hacker related. My personal guess is that it was ransomware and Dell paid up.
