Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Question about insurance coverage

My last day of non-working notice period is on Friday..I resigned and am going elsewhere and my notice period was converted to non-working notice with pay and benefits intact through this Friday. There is a 5 day gap with when I start with the new company and will be on their insurance from Day 1. Will Citi's insurance coverage expire at midnight on Friday or does it carry forward till the end of the month?

TIA

And to all those looking to get out of here - keep at it. Applying and activating network. It might take a while (took me nearly a year) but keep up the spirit, don't feel dejected if rejected even after multiple interview rounds..dust yourself and pick up again. The market is tough with layoff's. Keep the faith

Folks, thanks for the replies. The retrospective COBRA suggestion was very helpful. I haven't received anything from Citi in the mail yet. Will just wait

@cw it’s 60 days to retroactively add COBRA. So if you’re healthy, free week. If you get sick, then apply.

You have 30 days to sign up for insurance retroactively. So…don’t get sick and you’re not paying for that week. If you get sick, you can get it retroactively.

@OP You have COBRA through Citi. It used to work like this, but please validate.
Don't sign the paperwork denying COBRA coverage. IF you need it (i.e. something happens before your new job insurance kicks in) then accept the coverage and send the paperwork in. IF you don't need it then send the form in denying coverage or just let the option period expire.

@OP call insurance company. When I was laid off it literally ended one day prior to end of month which was my last non-working day. YMMV
