Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

30000 is OverHype. Here is the Rough estimate. Not sure on Timeframe

Estimate is around 8500 in count. (Max 12000 if more layoffs in India)

USA - 2,800 people to 3200
India - 4200 - 6500 (Expecting more cuts)
Europe - 1000 to 1500 max

More will be in Software dev and support : 5000+ counts expected (Middleware, DB, ...)
OCI will be saved with minimal layoffs <1000

Seems the 30000 layoff is not immediate and it will be over long term. Seems the estimate was done by the firm for long-term analysis and not for this year and the estimate was purely based on funding to the future commitments.

Basically Senior Management with mostly India team with non-revenue workloads beware . You will be major targets. !00% you can start searching new jobs.

What is the criteria here, more number or more money with less people, or more money with more people.
In india also 10 plus experience people have salary more or less equal to freshers but performing well. What's the use of layoff them.

They could save a ton of money removing a ton of the mgmt who have literally done nothing but make it a harder place to work...and slowed down tons of progress. For real, the world will not blink an eye. Customers can go wherever they want and get the same products and services and prob not have to deal with some of the circus.

ANALYST PROJECTION (30000) :

Oracle has already allocated 1.6B money for its layoff. The analyst count of 30000 is based on those numbers. If Oracle uses its full remaining allocation 700+M to layoff people then around 18000 people should be affected.
Q3 FY26 (Projected) $400 Million 9,750 people
Q4 FY26 (Projected) $388 Million 9,460 people.

The overall count is around 29000 including those who were laid off in September-Jan timeframe. EXPECTED REALITY

Now the question is how Oracle is going to layoff this number? all at once or in splits.
The another questions is if Oracle is use all its allocation?

For assumption if it just uses 50-70% of its allocation then the minimal layoff is 9000-12000 people.
This 9000-12000 is for sure without which Oracle can't survive. Again its the minimal quoted.
The above numbers are mainly done if reasonable senior positions are eliminated. If only lower grade positions, the numbers will be huge (12000+).

DELAYERING STRATEGY

Expect more middle management to go. Specially lots of Managers, Senior Managers, Directors and VP's to go. This is the only way to reduce the headcount in divisions.

Some Directors might report directly to Senior VP so they can cut down VP role.
If a Director holds less headcounts they might be targets
If your project shows less revenue (or) just a cost center, then the entire org might be wiped out.

Oracle has been squeezed from the “SaaS apocalypse" trade (initiated by Anthropic) and from the lack of confidence by the banks/investors to lend money to the Open AI venture.

LEA has ordered to remove positions 30k positions to combat this situation , at any cost

Stock analyst says: “Oracle has a balance from He-l”;

Another one said: “Oracle to slash up to 30,000 (high paying) jobs to fund AI data-center expansion

Majority of these cuts to come from high cost areas such as NA and western Europe.

Banks and professional analysts know a thing or two that OP doesn’t.

OP is worried to be part of that list, rightfully so
