I remember in 2015 we were warned this was coming. We should have listened.

Get rid of the workers that are not needed. Run the business like it should be. Stankey turning the company around.

We do not have 170k employees as mentioned below,

We are down 3074 since 11/23, bringing the total to 159,866.

1Q financial statement lists total employees at 203,160. Spin off happened after that.
3Q financials state total employee count at 169,880.
It looks like we dropped 10k since the 3Q results were reported.

You’re in denial if you do not believe Layoffs aren’t coming. Every town hall by leadership has shared that they are coming. Some groups may get 5% but some may see up to 30% or more. It depends on what work your team does and we’re your group falls in the budget. Most Techs will be flat and will be fine with retirement. Management is the one that will feel the brunt of this 1st Qrt one.

CSO, (Customer Service & Operations) is the business sector to be in due to its growth path. It's done well for years and continues to grow. It has a large union presence, but the union personnel are not at risk. It's just too bad T can't move some of the management personnel from areas that are at risk to this business to help grow the business even more.

Layoffs are coming. Leadership has been telling us for months now on various Town Halls that we have too many employees compared to our main competitors (Verizon, T-Mobile) per the revenue we make. We have 170k employees and Verizon has 110k and they make more money per employee, so we are more “bloated” than they are. There will be cuts across the board with reorgs happening. Bear down and hopefully you will make it through. Don’t put your head in the sand. If you’re union, you know it’s the low man out, but I doubt this run will affect most union folks. That will be after the management reductions first.

2023 will be like 2022 as 2022 was like 2021.

And I have been here long enough to know how things work around here and I suspect you're jumping to conclusions! Just when you think massive layoffs are inevitable, there's nothing more than a handful here and another handful there, nothing massive about it when all is said and done! With a current headcount of approx. 170k employees, I don't see a massive layoff. I suspect it'll be reduced by attrition and small pockets throughout the company, that's it!

(I don't have any inside info, but I've been here long enough to know how these things work.)
