Did anyone got an email to work from home tomorrow as I got it just now. Is this indication for layoff ?

@jb: Yes. Later in the afternoon, my boss went around to see who was left and freaked a bunch of them out.
@st Agreed. But these actions affect everyone differently. Empathy for others is totally gone in our society. There is life after Ford. When the job market was in the tank in 07-08 there was a sense of uncertainty, combined with everyone's 401K getting slammed, and Ford stock below $2. I survived but some of the people I looked up to were let go. Nothing made sense at the time. Some people who lost their jobs found other work while some left the business entirely. Today's work environment doesn't foster loyalty to the company, you just make the most of it while employed there. I always looked at my job as something I chose voluntarily and nobody owed me anything other than pay for time worked. It's just business but some people associate something greater to it that never understood. I'm retired, but I still look back fondly at my time at Ford because of the people not so much the company.
@gp people cried over being let go? 🤣
It's just not that big a deal. People that wrap their identity into their indentured servitude are nuts.
You are not work. Work are not you. Calm down people. You won't die.
@jb Yep. And, there would be 2 trash bins next to the person's desk, and you had 15 minutes to get your personal stuff.
How bad was it....
Who remembers 2006 where people knew there were layoffs happening and what they did was someone who was not from your area would come to the desk of the person getting let go and take them into a conf room inform them and then they were out of the building immediately after.
Before Covid our supervisor would tell specific people to go to the cafeteria and get a coffee which was code for someone getting let go. He would then call or text one of us to return to our assigned work area. We would see an empty desk(s) where one of our coworkers once worked. I would think being asked to work from home would be today's equivalent. It was very unsettling going to a meeting room immediately after the actions to see tissue boxes on a conference room table. It made you think about the individuals who were terminated and the consequences they faced when the hammer fell. In a darker take on this it was meant as a warning to those who survived as a warning that we could be next. Great morale booster in an upside world.
If you got the email you are safe. If you didn't you are beinglaid off as in previous waves. Best of luck everyone.
It would be great to work with that guy because he wouldn’t waste people’s time sending annoying emails to coworkers like you do
@OP, @bz (almost like I'm answering a JIRA . . .)
WFH Guy Here,
I got my e-mail WFH 3 years, 1 month and 21 days ago, however I did mark the McDonalds as phishing. Haven't you fools figured it out yet?
I warned my LL6 and LL5 of it and that's why they love me.
Luckily I wasn't gaming when it came in, so my management knows I got it going on.
Wow, Ford dealership humor, gotta love it.
I only got a Mc Donald's email.
@ah imagine working with someone like this guy
@ah You will not have to pay for it. Here’s what you do - tell them you’re a tire tread engineer, you were designing a tire that won’t damage items on the road, you were certain you had it figured out but there was a malfunction. Sh-t happens.
What did the email say? My laptop broke three weeks ago so I haven’t checked my emails since then. I’m afraid to take my laptop into IT support because once they see the tire skid marks on the lid IT will tell me I have to pay for the damaged laptop which I don’t want to.
Ford credit union, dearbon. You ?
I got an email too but not sure it is authentic. Anyone else got the email? Which division you work ? I am ford credit ?
You must have taken fentanyl I think.
Another lunatic to spoil the night
