Notice period for retirement

In workday there is a section for notice period. Depending on your title you may have to provide notice of you quit or retire. Mine says no notice. Does anyone know for sure of that means I can retire and walk out the door the same day? Not a question I really want to ask HR.

Former SVP/Director. Retired with 3 week notice. Retained my RSR’s, free checking (although I moved almost all my $ elsewhere to earn interest or have a better investment opportunity). I don’t know that I’d consider a same day notice though. That might be pushing it and it would not be worth losing whatever benefits you might be eligible for.

I was laid off in 4/2024 with 25-ish years. Things may have changed since then, but for me the retirement package was kind of a joke. Yes, you can keep your employee bank accounts. I had moved away from mine several years before because WF isn't really all that good at banking. They sent me a certificate, a nice cutomized glass award and a set of 3 kitchen knives. I could have easily lived without all of that, and it is a weak thank you for 25 years. I got a year's pay when I was planning to retire in a couple of months anyway, so that was my big win.

Good luck. Retire on your terms. You won't regret leaving WF behind,

One benefit of retiring is retaining the free WF checking and savings accounts if you have them. The non WF employee checking and savings accounts fees are no joke. Another benefit is you retain access to employee reduced mortgage rates, too.

There really are no retirement benefits anymore. Unless there are rsrs they can hold hostage or something I'm not sure what leverage they have to force the notification period for a retiree.

What is the notice for anyone in a regular job, if resigning? Do you tell manager or HR first?

@bk That’s my plan after the bonus hits.

If you don’t have an officer title of vice president or above, there is no “required notice”, but with that said, you do need to follow the retirement guide for how to go through the steps to process your retirement.

Read the retirement guide. There are things that have to get processed by your manager. Tell them you’re retiring a month or two out and then f@@k off u til your date. What they gonna do fire you? At worst you’d lose any restricted stock etc.

Going to be a lot of retirements after next Friday's bonus hits.. to be on good terms would need to give normal notice which for me would be 30 days if not eligible for retirement at Wells Fargo....

There's an entire retirement guide posted to HRSS. It tells you what to do in each phase of your retirement planning. You should follow that versus any advice provided here.
