Internal job after layoff

How are ya’ll getting hired back? I’ve had great interviews but I can tell the hiring manager already has someone in mind for the role. How much networking is everyone doing?

@aa depends on your field. I’m interviewing at one step down and seeing same salaries or higher and same level and pay is much more elsewhere. Both are fin svcs

sometimes they will lay folks off with the intention of hiring them back

it's some sort of HR move to limit liability in some specific strategic way

I know someone who came back just to get laid off. They pay better but you deal with the same cr-p.

I came back and didn’t know anyone in the division. It’s a lot of luck. I wouldn’t come back again though. Toxic environment and it’s only getting worse.

I came back after 15 months. Had a job with a smaller bank and the pay was lousy. As bad as WF is, you’ll find that no one pays anywhere close. I’m on a decent team with a good manager and earning $40K more than my previous employer. It’s kind of a cr-p shoot at the end of the day, but everyone’s situation is different. I found that you almost have to know someone to be able to come back, and that’s how it played out for me.
