It is a fact that VP compensation is tied to diversity metrics of their organizations. Specifically for increasing representation of women and people of racial/ethnic minorities.This is available in SEC disclosures referencing People and Planet bonuses.
For those that don’t see a problem with this; what if it was the opposite. Or inverse. Where VP’s were financially incentivized to hire more white males?
VP’s are openly instructing TA to ensure a given role goes to a diversity hire.
…how is that competitive? How isn’t it discrimination?
All the complaints are likely from one white dude with an overcompensating big white truck.

this is trump just trying to quash DEI in general. Nike discriminates against ALL - race, color, religion, s-x, gender identity, national origin, age, disability. But against white people is at the bottom of the list. look around. They only prioritized DEI for optics

The overwhelming majority of men and women in executive functions are white at Nike and in this country.

Remember how Nike went through multiple DEI heads in only a few years?! Haha all unqualified and caught doing something horribly wrong or inappropriate. Schmarvis sam (aka JS) was the worst and Nike luckily let him walk away quietly
after george floyd even during covid we were called in and we had struggle sessions where we have to say that black people are the victims of systemic racism even at nike, then we would have to go around one by one and share a stories about racism towards blacks or hear black teammates say how they were discriminated against. all this despite nike giving preferrential treatment and promos to black employees, dei programs, clubs at nike only for black employees, not to mention the company donated hundreds of millions to black social justice organizations. nike didn't just discrimnate against white people but everyone who isn't black for many years
Maybe we can get an honest recruiter to admit some of the hiring practices. 100% there were leaders pushing agendas for DEI and ignoring talent
As a former employee, I have heard HR admit that they were looking for certain ethnicities. Those not within those ethnicities would not be promoted or hired.
DEI was the problem as it divided the company's mandated meetings, seminar etc. Keep blaming outside circumstances, but you needto look inside at what destroyed the company
Not trying to solve the world's problem here, but we should find better ways than DEI and white male supremacy to promote people and put them in power. Maybe some general point systems or something published on Nike's public website that clearly states how it promotes and hires people based on a point system. That way, everyone knows. So far, no one knows how Nike hires and promotes people, other than favoritism and nepotism, and some mambo jambo or magic wand power.
This is a stunt by the Trump admin trying to punish progressive companies that aren’t kissing his ring. If someone wanted to find actual systemic discrimination at Nike, I’d be taking a serious look at ageism.
Checking the composition of the senior leadership team for the last 5 years (and its history) and oh yea, a lot of white dudes. This is meant to distract from the chaos President Cheeto is wreaking in this country. Easy defense for Nike.
Nike went off the deep end in 2020 with DEI and white people were absolutely discriminated against. There were several roles posted where I was told I shouldn’t waste time applying because the “competitive hiring process” had already identified a woman or POC that was guaranteed the role for optics purposes. This was absolutely a widespread thing.
Nike has nothing to worry about. We all know white women, especially white and g%y women came out on top of the DEI pile.
Three words: Competitive. Hiring. Process.

Two thoughts:
On one hand I’m DEEPLY skeptical of the motivations behind anything this administration does.
On the other hand anyone, including Nike itself, who would deny that race and ethnicity has played a direct role in certain employment decisions…that person or organization would be existing in a willful state of denial.
Maybe Nike should ironically use the completely shameless, dishonest approach this Administration often uses itself and just deny, deny, deny, delay and drag their feet at every opportunity, and whenever deemed necessary…just flat-out lie. You know, a “What’s good for the goose is good for the gander” situation.
It’s always sort of funny when people are forced to consume their own medicine, and they quickly realize it doesn’t taste so good.
Good. Many of us have been victims of DEI and this has to stop now. Thank you Mr President!
it's about time. the things I have seen in this company, I have not seen anywhere else.
My $.02 is that a DEI program, like a sustainability program, are symbolically meaningful for a progressive Oregon company.
That said, when you are struggling like we are, these programs really ought to be de prioritized unless someone can prove to me that they actually resulted in improving the bottom line.
We simply don’t have this luxury otherwise.
Keep pushing back. It's ok to be white!
