If you take on 50 tasks and do 49 of them exceedingly well but do a so-so job on the 50th one, that is what you get judged on.
Better to take on limited tasks but do very well on all of them. If you think you might fail on a task, best to pass that on to someone else.

This is 100% accurate.
Spot on I did more work than anyone on my team but was blindsided with IM at year end review by coward manager.
I too have to remind myself to slow down and not respond too soon. It seems like the only way to look out for myself.
@OP unfortunately this is true at WF in the current environment. Stay in your lane. Do well but don’t overdo it. I have to remind myself to do this daily. Don’t respond to email questions right away, wait a few hours. Someone else will have answers or questions no longer relevant. If you answer right away you might get perception that you’re not busy versus wanting to do the right thing. After I started doing this, I noticed others picking up and answering and work seems to be delegated more evenly. Less is more at WF right now.
