I have been severely overwhelmed at work the last 2 years. Drowning in legal issues and compliance stuff and roughly 2 x the workload of next coworker...I got an inconsistently meets this year after pushing back on workload and other things...I don't think they would fire me as who would deal with it but anyone else having that issue? How can I continue to do it and not get paid enough or have any trust with management?

@a8 don't matter, if you can't get to your hub at least 3 days a week, you're gone.
I had no write-ups, ever later or seldom had an absence.
Had to interview for my own job, should we not accept, we then had to train replacements and when they were fully trained, we were displaced.
So instead of keeping reliable experienced people who know the job and are compliant know your track record, they'd rather throw you out taking a chance on someone new.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it comes to mind.
Saved the day a few times and on top of my other work, still got IM
Concentrate on job hunting, leave your tasks along.
Doing the majority of the team's work is in no way a guarantee of keeping your job. The IM is an honest signal of how your manager perceives you versus your peers. Yes managers are being forced into stack ranking and must give out some number of IMs regardless if deserved or not, but they still chose you to receive it versus someone else, that means something. I'd take it seriously. They don't perceive your contribution in the same way you do.
This is why almost every scholarly study of stack ranking has found it to be a toxic practice best left in the dustbin of history. Unfortunately we're cursed with a c-suite determined to keep the ghost of jack welch alive.
I could echo the same from the posts on this thread. You are not alone. Place is toxic, unethical and hostile for starters.
I was in the same boat, OP. I did the majority of the work on my team and honestly thought they'd never displace me. Boy was I wrong. My last review before I and half my team were let go, I could tell my lead was desperately wanting to give me a bad review but couldn't because they didn't have any basis or fodder to substantiate it.
I didn't play the team games or get involved with any of the drama or gossip, and based on what I've read on this forum, that is what they want.
They don't care about the top performers - they want the boot lickers and ar-e kissers.
Try and find a way to stop accepting more work and prepare for the layoff. I'd normally advise to start looking, but severance is a gift. Good luck! WF is so toxic.
Same boat but when I complained time and time again they actually moved some of the workload to less ambitious coworkers with not much experience. Maybe they will fire me since I do not do so much anymore but maybe just maybe someone actually heard me...no raise and 30% bonus reduction for way more work than previous years and looking an early retirement to get out of this place...don't trust anyone anymore....
