Let's say I got needs improvement. Does that make me any more likely to be let go than someone who got meets/meets

Yes, the ratings mean something. No, it doesn't necessarily mean you will lose your job. It does mean to wake up if you want to keep it. You should ask this to your manager directly, not to anonymous people online. Ask your manager for measurable things you can do to improve, and do them.
