Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

FU Wells Fargo!

11 years of blood sweat and tears and this is how you do me? A solid 5 or 6 of those feverishly cleaning up other peoples compliance messes. Only to be tossed out with the garbage without so much as a thank you.

@s0 I understand, I have medical issues too and would have been okay to stay on remote. But said my medical note wouldn't be honored after a certain amount of times and to be considered full time remote, had to live within 50 miles. Location strategy seems to have the power to override a doctor's note.

I have been required to proceed pro se in this matter after being unable to secure legal representation, despite extensive documentation supporting my claims. Over approximately nine years of employment, I preserved contemporaneous records, correspondence, timelines, and exhibits reflecting my work history, performance, and accommodation requests.

During my tenure, I was employed within Corporate Security, where my duties included protecting company assets, personnel, and operations. Throughout this period, I maintained a strong performance record, with no formal disciplinary write-ups, no documented attendance violations, and consistent adherence to scheduling and operational requirements. I also received written communications acknowledging my performance and indicating that my work set standards for future expectations.

In December 2025, I became aware that the company reported to the state unemployment agency that my employment was terminated on December 7. At that time, I had not received any written notice of termination. I notified the company that the absence of contemporaneous written notice raised compliance concerns under applicable state law. Subsequently, on December 11, I received a termination notice stating that the separation was due to misconduct and an inability to meet in-office expectations.

This characterization conflicts with documented communications previously provided to Human Resources, including evidence that my department permits and, under certain circumstances, encourages remote work—such as during observed holidays, inclement weather, or operational disruptions (including power or infrastructure issues).

I have documented medical conditions, including multiple herniated discs, which give rise to associated symptoms affecting daily functioning. Based on medical guidance, I submitted multiple requests for reasonable accommodation in the form of remote work. These requests were denied on multiple occasions. In connection with these denials, no individualized hardship analysis or explanation was provided to me, despite my repeated requests and despite the availability of remote work within my department.

The only accommodation offered was ergonomic equipment, which did not address the functional limitations underlying my requests. This occurred notwithstanding my length of service, performance history, and documented medical needs.

Additionally, during at least one accommodation request, the interactive process was delayed for approximately three months, during which I was informed that the delay was due to an inability to obtain input or approval from departmental leadership within Corporate Security.

All of the above events are supported by preserved documentation, including emails, medical records, accommodation submissions, performance acknowledgments, and administrative correspondence.

36 years here! Took me a while, but I now consider it a gift. The level of toxicity is hard to see for some until you get out from under it.

I am very sorry to hear that and was treated the same way. I had over 10 years with the company and loved my job for a good portion, received many exceeds until the last couple of years when it became so toxic and then all of a sudden received a mid-year IM with no reasons documented and then an annual with an IM, again with no feedback, no substantiation and then was laid off. I worked my butt off for WF and was a go-to on my team and for my department. The c-suite has absolutely run WF into the ground. After several months of PTSD from the toxic environment, I found a new position and am so much happier. Looking back, I can't believe I stayed as long as I did. You will find something better and also feel so much better on the other side of this! Stay strong.

Just think about telling a prospective employer how wells laid you off for an illegal reason.

No one is gonna believe Wells, including juries. The company is known as rotten to the core and getting worse. You got this.

This is the ‘new’ WF. The c-suite has absolutely ruined this place. Some of us are old enough to remember when it was genuinely a decent place to work.

I know how you feel, I was laid off last year. All I can say is hang in there it took a while over 8 months, but I was able to land, and job making more money and enjoy working again. I wish luck.

i’m sorry to hear, but the sad reality is that this company does not care about any of their employees. You are just a number we all are.

That's because we are not valued personally.
Reducing costs and the share price are all that matters.
