In my 25 years with the company, I can say that layoffs are always on a non-payday Thursday. The next one will be on 02/12 and then on 02/26. If layoffs occur on payday, they have to recalc final pay and correct tax withholding. It also gives managers time to stabilize teams before the weekend.
They often do these on the off-cycle Thursdays, so every other week. But interestingly, they do them on a Thursday because the science shows that the su----e rate of laying people off on a Friday or over the holidays is higher.
