Thread regarding Starbucks layoffs

AI- Baristas

Why are we still employing “baristas”? All of these businesses should be modernized with AI. Ordering can be done by the customer who inputs the specific product and ingredients then much like a vending machine the beverage is made and dispensed.

We don’t need people with blue hair, nose rings and a they/them attitude sc--wing up our orders anymore.

@aw Tell me you’ve not worked in an office without telling me you’ve not worked in an office. Because offices these days have… wait for it… automated baristas. I can get lattes, cappuccinos, and a dozen other drinks. And you know what, they get it wrong sometimes, just like humans. And they need repairs, unlike humans. And restocking, etc.

Some 13-year old sn-t-nosed kid thinks automation is the best thing ever. He’s probably not drunk a cup of coffee in his life. But he’s more that ready to live at home in his mom’s basement because everything is automated.

If a barista had a bad day and typical relationship problems it reflected in their attitude and coffee making skills with a scowl. Automation prevents a bad cup of joe

NO ONE goes to Starbucks for the amazing service and intelligent conversation.

It was a job designed for teenagers that loser adults who have no motivation or skill’s settled in to.

A make‑work economy
or
An economy of bull$hit jobs

Both capture the idea of nonessential work valued mainly because it keeps people occupied.

It's coming. Try to catch the attention of a worker filling drive-thru orders at a MdDs. Just 3 or 4 employees now. Used to have a dozen scrambling around a couple of years ago

@OP your suggestion is awful for the economy and takes away what the vast majority of people look forward to about ordering a coffee. Human interaction and great service are the cornerstone of coffee shops around the world. What kind of shithole do you want to live in?
