Thread regarding Comcast layoffs

The pattern is too clear to ignore

Look at the steps: centralize, lay off, outsource. They're clearly building a system to replace the US based work with cheaper options. The new tools are designed so lower skill workers can do it. We're being managed out.

@25e it’s a slap in the face to many who have put all their time and skills into the business. It’s also created issues with business customers like you said. They want reliable, in the states, timely, trustworthy business connections and products. Can’t do that anymore. It can also not be ignored that ‘some’ in particular seem to be pushing this higher up. why?

@25e correct. Who thinks this is a good idea from within? Customers and businesses rely on reliability and trust to make any sort of big deals, and they’re going to get it from overseas? LOL. Just adding fuel to their fire.

@ew What dpt? Are they trying to sink the company, fully? who is making these awful decisions?! The insanity is off the charts when they are already in a hole. I have to wonder the intentions of those making these decisions at the top for Chennai or anywhere outside because this is already not going to go well for Comcast and other companies doing the same. Customers are already jumping ship based on price hikes, but now also for lack of trust/transparency. Imagine the business side lol. Any business operates with rapid precision and they will definitely need that fast-paced backing within the US centers where they can TRUST and understand the damn place they put all their money into. That is, if they even choose to go the Comcast route after all this. Also, when did Comcast become anti-American worker? Not sure how else the public and customers are going to see this.

The constant lying by management on outsourcing is disgraceful. They will outsource every last job they can to India, Philippines and anywhere else they can get cheap low skilled labor. All of the people that have worked very hard for Comcast especially the business divisions have been in vain. Entire careers devoted to a company that ditched their best and brightest the moment that they could save a buck. Well, I say to Comcast so called leadership, good luck with that plan, your are going to need it. Customer, business customers that pay millions of dollars for top support are already leaving and that will only accelerate. What a stupid this to do to a company!!!!!

Customers and people are noticing. Just look at social media. Trust is being lost outside and inside the company as a whole. Wait times are longer with these new additions. And let’s not talk about turnover and how awful the work is…that is if it even gets done. Comcast is shooting itself in the foot and should be ashamed at what they are doing and have done over the last year or so. It’s surely not the Comcast it used to be.

Our jobs are going offshore, while EU businesses must pay their national VAT (16% to 27%) on services imported and software.

Just had a departmental all hands where they told us straight out that they were “bringing on 20 new engineers, and several new support staff” then proceeded to say they were going to be hired in the CIEC in India.
