Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Quarterly results

Can someone who is smarter than me help me understand how good or bad the quarterly results, and because of timing, the annual results for 2025?

It seems like we had a really good year but I can be reading this wrong. But I'm getting upset that it looks like we had a good year but I know the compensation numbers are horrible this round. And if that's the case, they do not in fact pay for performance.

@an That’s the classic rule of every publicly traded company.

To employees, the leaders say “oh gosh! Headwinds in the economy! Struggling to make numbers! No raises, no bonuses! Do more with less! We are hanging on by our fingernails! Work harder!”

To shareholders, the leaders say “record profits! Record breaking financial performance! Huge growth! Record efficiency ratios and revenue per headcount! Amazing performance by your leadership team, we deserve astronomical bonuses and stock options!”

Massive layoffs today in our department. On a Wednesday of all days. I’m safe for the moment. But feels gross they are laying off right before they announce bonus pool and yearly raises.

The stock price could soar, efficiency ratio in the 20’s and the bank would still play it off to employees as a horrible year.

Super demotivating that good results still means layoffs.
