Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Toxic stress

Success and failure come from the top down. Abby has to be free falling because the company is getting worse by the day. Just grow a pair and fix the management crisis.

It’s pathetic that anxiety leave is a regular reason for people to be out of work. Life really isn’t that serious and if someone is below grade 5, really why are they stuck with incompetent management that su-ks the soul out of them? This is the company culture at this point.

@h9 True, but the real risk with that strategy is you might get promoted.

@gs couldn't agree more. It's sad how much this place has changed and not for the better. I miss the good old days.

After so push for mobility . I accepted a new role in a different BU last year, only to be told this year that my role no longer exists. Really frustrating.

If you're really ready to exit the workforce, just underperform for a year or 2 and then get on the path for a PIP. At that point, ask for a severance package. If there is any hesitation by management, go to your doctor and ask for a limited leave of absence due to workplace stress. Go for it. You have nothing to lose. Time to retire to the best possible "YOU"! you deserve a good life with 0 work. It is awesome on the other side, trust me!

I stumbled on this post and as a former long term employee this is sad to hear/see. I wish you all the best and hope things improve. The Fidelity of old was an awesome culture to work, grow and be challenged. My hope is the management get back to what made Fidelity great which was team work, respect and meritocracy. You got hired, promoted and new challenges based on your contributions and effort. None of the pronoun BS, DEI or quotas on genders if this is the underlying issue existed back then. The culture was strong and so was the leadership. Best wishes for your success.

In FI, I have had multiple teammates out at different times due to stress/anxiety from this place. And yet, the decisions that get made to our group just continually make it worse and worse. How is it not on purpose??

The problems begin at the top and trickle down through each level of management getting worse and worse along the way. Senior “leadership” is clueless about what is really happening at the individual contributor level.
