Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

What are we left with in GT?

Out of 14 VPs left, we have 2 maybe 3 decent leaders left at the VP level in GT.

Others are highly toxic, backstabbing, have no vision, will sacrifice their team to make themselves look good, lack technical, product, or design competency.

Make no mistake that sooner or later all of the above will impact all of us even if you are in the space that is isolated from it right now or are able to talk you way out of it (at least for now).

People that sell b*tt plugs for a living would be better leaders.

@dz I am also not saying it's only in Tech. I am saying pick the best VP (in all these departments) and let the others "retire".

@ad the VP > VP > VP reporting line is in many departments. The Sport Offense by spawned VPs. Not saying it is good. But it is not in Tech alone.

I love seeing everyone complain who is a bad leader but NOBODY ever says who are good ones on here. Must be a mystery.

NikeTech/GT has always been the worst department to be in. You get bullied by the business, your leaders are lackeys installed from the new CTO, CIO, Tech EVP always. They work in nonsensical ways and never last more than 3 years.

By far the worst organization in Nike. Sure, you get 30% more than the rest of Nike employees but your life cycle at Nike all depends on how well the business is doing.

Nike working culture s..ucks. It is one of the worst places I have ever worked. It makes me depressed to go into work and see all these big titles bullying everyone else below them. And on top of it, to see all the nepotism and favoritism towards anyone who encourages the toxic culture. You cannot get a higher title, honestly, even if you do triple the work of those with higher titles. The management, VPs, and directors all encourage this toxic hierarchical culture and empower toxicity, titles, and narcissism. I have been desperately trying to find another role in the past few months, for my mental well-being, but the market is rough. I now try to find ways to protect myself on a daily basis from this toxicity until I can leave for a healthier workplace. I need a paycheck. There are other toxic places out there, but Nike seems to top them all. I haven't seen this level of toxicity, nepotism, and favoritism anywhere else I have worked prior to Nike.

I would bet that we see the current 14 VPs trimmed down to five during the next reorg, especially considering that the GT leader himself isn't at the C level.
