Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Just got an IM. Never got one before.

How long do I have? Im in CTO. Never got that rating before. Basically the rating said I’m good at my job but don’t take initiative blah blah blah. I knew it was coming. Don’t care, ready to be done with this place. Do I have until summer at least?

@f4 .. has only x amount of employees. Its the location of the employees that will change. That's the offshore ratio. You can layoff 3 US employees and replace them with 4 offshore employees. The total employee count doesn't change but ...

@aj 15-20% IM or worse sounds about right, but the ratings went in back in Oct not this weekend.

50,000 people is also an extreme exaggeration. WFC only employs about 200,000 people now. Only some groups are being targeted.

I’ve had people get IM at year end, they made the required improvements and moved back to meets the next year. Who gets laid off is above me, but we have put people on PIPs and they were let go after not making the improvements. Getting put on a PIP was a sure way to know you were on your way out in my area.

Trend has been IM means fire and no severance. It’s companies way of not having to pay our severance. Review the performance policy and if you believe it’s an unjust review don’t agree with it and contact HR get everything in writing and review performance policy now because once you’re let go they will not provide this information to as they say it’s an internal document.

What does WF performance policy say about action the company can take if you get IM?

IM means they gave someone an E so they have to give an IM. If you get a second one mid year then you are being marked for a layoff. I know managers that are just giving everyone a M even if people deserve higher so they aren’t forced to give an IM.

Uh.... you may want to educate yourself on the meaning of 'tenure'. You used it exactly wrong.

@aj Sounds legit, he heard "from HR contact".

Why are the loonies on here such terrible liars. The caveman grammar is such a funny cherry on top.

@aq Honestly I'm convinced the actions of our government is part of what is emboldening business leaders to wage war on employees. I'm not sure calling Uncle Sam will do much. Maybe in 2027...

@ac This person is here all day every day trying to discredit everyone. My guess is yes, they are being paid to try and discredit. Or they are the actual "nutcase" trying to project. Major hippocrite either way. They spend a lot of time here talking sh-t, which probably means they are very worried about their future with WF if not being paid.

Challenge it and hire lawyer. Report that to Uncle Sam as well.

Anyone challenge one of these negative performance reviews review with employee relations?

I do wonder if their are legal cases with some of these lower ratings and subsequent firings. Let's say I got a meets on my mid year followed by nothing but positive praise from my manager up until my year end where I then gets a NI which then leads to firing for cause without any pip, etc. really makes you wonder. when all is said and done the company will do what they want to do and they have really good/high paid lawyers to protect them, but at some point enough is enough and they'll dam will burst.

I heard from HR contact were looking for more than 20% IMs or NIs. I think Friday before a long weekend was management's defacto time to give the bad ratings....would assume 50,000 plus inconsistently meets or need improvements given this week...

I got my 1st negative review today as well...Luckily wife makes good $$$ and I am a finance professional that has saved 20% or more of my earnings over the last 25 years. Question now is do I walk without paycheck? Nah, that would be d-mb...I ve never been laid off or fired so I will come in and sit 8 hours a day and do the bare minimum...Will test Wells to see how long it takes to fire me...sc--w them..sc--w management that does shady stuff and hope regulators come down hard on this company..

I’m gonna assume less than 4 months if you have lower tenure.

The place is trying to save money on severance expenses and if they can fire you 3 months from now vs laying off and paying 4 months of severance + benefits. They will do it.

@ab Are you being paid to spam sites to improve the company’s image? I would have imagined grammar was a required skill for that role. Look for your own IM/NI

Focus is now 100% getting out of your role, and preferably out of the company. Read the signs coming off of your manager. Is the workload being removed? Are you being asked to document any processes or procedures? If you are being micromanaged, you are likely to either be displaced by mid-year (which notes all over this site there is no severance budget for 2026) or fired after receiving a second IM at mid-year. Now is NOT the time to be optimistic about your prospects. Good luck! Rank and yank su-ks!

I got an IM on my MID-YEAR. My manager didn’t even bother to discuss it with me ahead of time, just emailed me. I was displaced the following Tuesday.
