What's the criteria they're using to select sr Manager Managers and ICs.

Jeff's Fed Gov group? If that's the Jeff you are referring to he's about as worthless as an igloo in Miami. They'd come out ahead counting him as one of the RIFs since he doesn't lead or do anything to help with actual sales. But as everyone who worked for him says, he is untouchable because he's a DEI guy.
@bd RTO - Return to Office
While I have no specific insider knowledge on the metrics they’re using, I will say that this RIF is different that some previous ones.
In the earlier RIFs, in my org the directors did not find out who was impacted until a day or two before the frontline management.
This time, the directors (again, in my org) were active participants in the selection process.
That does imply an employee’s reputation with their leadership might be one factor, but as others have stated, the primary driver was likely meeting an OPEX reduction threshhold, with middle management having some discretion.
Is remote worker the first target?
I've been remote since I started, and am at a higher level of the engineer job scale. I've managed to survive multiple previous layoffs, but I have a strong gut feeling I'm not going to dodge this one.
quota's is what they are using. They dont look at performance, they look at seats and how those seats affect OpEx. Cut this many, is the direction and "if we let this person go, well we will figure it out later" is the mantra.
If you brown nose your manager, you are in, if not pack up.
I thought we agreed to STOP WITH THE ACRONYMS
You’d be safe if you were in Jeff’s org
supposedly -not following RTO policies, low performing, etc but from what I’ve experienced over the past few years going through this, there doesn’t seem to be criteria. Top performers in the office 5 days a week are gone.
It is corporate Russian roulette.
