Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Not getting due credit for your work

Does anyone feel like they have been working hard , working late night to do something, and yet not getting enough credit or praise or call out for doing it?

And the manager or team lead favoring certain people and being biased ?

This crumbles the confidence and just gives constant anxiety to prove yourself, work longer hours and constantly doubting yourself.

My first manager....his tech exp stopped at excel sheets. He stole a POC I did....and was overall a pathetic man. still there
My second manager....he stole my customer ppts...used most of what I did as his own. still there. Meant well, but yes man, Indian, but like super weird about workign with you.
Third manager, woman who started a new dept....she knew nothing about. tech skills limited to...well...she knew nothing. still there.
Fourth manager, brought in by acquisition from Midwest. Total yes man who dumped on most anyone who challenged. one-product man who had zero technical skills. He moved up cause he's doing a job no one wants and has wife and kids. still there.
Fifth manager. Total yes man. Yuge. Zero technical skills. Promoted me and then backdoored me when he told me there was no $$$ increase. A pathetic human being. Still there

An Expression from my youth:

"Do you want a metal or a chest to pin it on?"

If you're doing your job because you want a bunch of praise and thank yous then you're part of the problem. A good job should be its own reward, and trust me when I say that all those kudos aren't worth the paper they are written on.

I don't want to demean the AI or AC people. Lot of them are my friends. But the ratio should be
A (I + C) <= A in any team to avoid redtape.

This is because of lots of A (I,C) management. They work only by favorites.
They need to be shuffled or let go.
I have seen SVP's bringing some of their best favorites who are not even qualified for certain positions and I see fast promotions for people who never did anything.

It's fascinating to see the diversity in work experience. I have done nothing aside from keeping my status "active" for months. Our leadership can't get there sh*t together to figure out what to work on, so the team hasn't had work in months. Pretty sure my manager has a second job because they are completely checked out. None of us feel inclined to go beyond what's asked of us for this exploitive, soul-su-king company. Literally rest and vest. Yes I'm aware I will most likely rifed, I'm prepared.

What is described in this thread is just “normal” at corrupt Oracle: it’s part of its culture

@by like it matters, there are almost no native English speakers left in Oracle
in our department of 70 people, we got 2, both lower-level engineers not laid off yet.

@az Just about everything people post in Linked-In is self promotional. As far as I am concerned the only thing Linked-In is good for is reestablishing contact with former colleagues.

@az

None of you people are capable of even conversing in English properly, so there's that.

Linkedin suggested me the post of an VP employee excited of working at O:

„I am energized every day because I genuily love what I do and, most importantly, the people I get to do it with. (…) I have had the privilege of watching O continuously reinvent itself, not by accident, but by listening to customers, learning from hard lessons, and having the courage to evolve.”

Are we living in the different worlds?
That’s why I stopped to be keen on Linkedin some time ago and some entries I just treat as a not at all funny joke.
