@38k All those interviews Claims have been holding over the last 3 weeks would suggest otherwise.

@2z2 they can post all they want, doesn’t mean actually hiring. Looks good to shareholders, drives up stock price, c suite payday! They’ll also post top of the ever mysterious pay band, not that they will pay that but will tell you you can’t get a raise bc you are too high in your band

@2ze Compensated? I hear that the usual Allstate compensation is a whopping great 3 free drink tokens for the staff christmas party and an autographed picture of Tom Wilson riding bare chested on his favourite horse :D

The guys that worked in LTS are being laid off in the next couple of months however they were told this a few months back.LTS was sold a few years back and basically it’s taken a few years of work to transition the work to the buyer. Think they were compensated during those years to stay with the sinking ship

@2wg How the he-l can they be laying more people off when they are actively recruiting graduates at the minute. Surely this is completely illegal.

I heard yesterday that two of the guys I worked with from ANI were laid off sometime this week. No one here knows anything more about it. I spoke to one of the other Belfast guys on the team and he confirmed that they had gone but says he knows nothing else about it and that his Managers refuse to discuss it. So much for all the transparency and being a great place to work cr-p they keep trying to feed us.

@24k I heard on the grapevine that the ANI folks were bullied into signing NDAs before they were let go. Does anyone know if the same thing applies to the folks Stateside who were let go?

@1z4 Read the wording on the NDA first but in general no, if you think that you've been discriminated against then signing an NDA generally doesn't stop you from taking a tribunal or a complaint against them - if they've done something illegal then it may well invalidate the NDA. I would gather up any evidence that you have, letters, emails, HR documents as well as any recent job advertisements or evidence of the roles they are recruiting for and then speak to LRA in Belfast. They have a couple of excellent Barristers who know this stuff inside out and will be able to offer you the appropriate advice.

@1pz How would that work out for people who have signed an NDA before they were laid off I wonder. Would the NDA prevent them from taking a case against Allstate afterwards?

@1pp If they are laying off older long term staff and then replacing them with younger lower paid people then they are on very shaky ground legally, at least in the UK. According to LRA "If the employees being replaced are 40 or older, and they are targeted specifically because they are more expensive due to age, this could constitute age discrimination". If you do get laid off or have been laid off recently, then I would consider talking to LRA and seeing if You have a case to take against them.

There was a push just before Christmas to attract graduates into the company followed by an open day where they were promising all sorts. Competitive salary, benefits, the chance to work with cutting edge technology, proper training, a huge back log of work which would last many years, etc. I would be interested to see on the back of this if there will be any more layoffs this year. I.e. recruiting low paid grads to replace long term higher paid employees.

March is what we are hearing. And most of it offshore.

Either way, make sure to try and get your year bonus and banked PTO on the way out

On my team there has been a lot of moving pieces in the background. Latest oddity is the skip level boss asking us to make sure our Workday job titles match, idk why they are entered in differently or why it matters.

Only thing I can imagine is there are some HR automations occurring that compile lists of staff. I am assuming the March timeframe as it takes a while to figure these things out. Old boss told me to start looking for a new gig back in June, they took a different job at Allstate for a pay cut.

If you’re in tech you’re probably safe. They’ve cut all they can afford to cut. Now they’re paying the price.

Asking because everybody is mentioning March, but I remember January being talked about like it was a done deal. What changed?
