Remote work from Calgary

Due to family reasons, I can’t move out of Calgary. Has anyone asked if there is any opportunity to work remote rely from Calgary, or do fly-in fly-out to Kearl or Cold Lake or Norman Wells??

I am not a troll. I am out of options and desperate.

Try to get a rotator job to Kearl or Norman Wells.

But better to look for a new job outside the company.

Don’t count on it. Though the company may change their tune once folks don’t report.

I found a job with another operator. But if I hadn’t my plan was just to keep showing up at QP until 2028 then not reporting to Edmonton

If you want to stay in Calgary, best bet is to accelerate your job search outside the company. Pretty clear they want to minimize any exceptions for remote work, etc.

Only BTC, KLTC, BA and GBC can work remotely.

This question has come up before, and it’s also addressed in the FAQs: the company is no longer allowing remote work, and all employees are expected to work from the new offices in Strathcona.

I think you should be looking elsewhere. Pretty thin out there now though.

@a1 there is a council meeting on Monday Jan 12th to discuss those questions, suggest to reconnect with your department head afterwards.
