Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

I loved working at Honeywell when I just started

I remember having amazing people working on my first project - I felt like I was surrounded by rock stars! The work environment was amazing then, and we were always able to count on each other when facing challenges or setbacks.
Within two years things changed. The company started making decisions that seemed to favor some employees over others, and there were favorites who got special treatment (and I know you find that in every corporation but it hurt extra here). What really bothered me was how supervisors now started to treat their employees. Sometimes it felt like they were setting up some people to fail, just because they didn't like them or didn't agree with them on whatever issue. After seeing this happen more than once and to multiple coworkers, I decided to start looking for a new job. I hope to be out of here by the end of January. It took just five years to go from loving to hating Honeywell.

Obviously, you never worked at aerospace Minneapolis, Minnesota location.

They don’t have any Rockstars. They have to build three automated machines in order to get one to work correctly. They also don’t buy the right CNC machines so they sit around for seven years. Not being used.

They can’t figure out how to automate anything correctly. We no talented people. Just incredible bullsh-tters. We get the F and D students. When they get their grades. They go up to the professor. What am I supposed to do now. No one will hire me. They will tell them to come to Minneapolis, Minnesota aerospace unit. We are not future shapers. We’re trying to become future shapers. However, the smart ones won’t work for us.

The really smart people they go to a really good company. This is the best we can do. We’re trying to be a future shapers. Unfortunately, with the current talented. Our futures in doubt.

Agree - I was let go recently, and feel that I was chosen first to go because of a newer boss, who I for whatever reason could not seem to get on a good side of (even tho multiple more experienced bosses prior never had any issues, was actually the exact opposite). I’ve seen many threads mentioning that a lot of management take threat to the higher performing subordinates. I also agree with the comment about why HR does not investigate this further… why would an employee who received nothing but positive remarks, bravo awards, promotions, etc. over 5 years all of a sudden be the employee first out the door - they should not be allowing these newer so-called leaders to make these decisions, of course they’re going to try and wipe out anyone they see as a potential threat in any way; but not surprising, there are more than a lot of things HoneyH€ll shouldn’t be doing, but they just keep on

Honeyhell is doing this to themselves and they appear to benefit from what it seems as planned obsoleteness of their employees. RIF, furlough, fire, or push out those who've been around long enough or outliers and wait for the next naive, eager employee to come in and think they'll change the world...er FutureShape! and honeysuck will churn and burn and on to the next.

Realistically Honeyhell is not modernizing and capitalizing on talent outside of their prisons, er hubs. most of the people I know that were terminated or had left were largely due to inflexibility in their 'flex work' policy and no-one in leadership will dare challenge DA. Also a lot of them were in bands without any raises or annual merit increases and were stagnate.

I left exactly because of my immediate supervisor. Do nothing phone hog. Had his personal favorites. Didn’t tickle his short hairs and so I was on the elbow. Year over year. Grapevine says he is in a world of trouble now that I’m not covering up for us accidents. Karma. I’m doing so much better post HON H€LL.

Seeing a lot of turnover and planned turnover. If a manager is losing a 5+ year engineer for any reason, HR needs to check this situation out. What changed? Why were you achieving so much and then wham, you're leaving? Get the intel and allow return one day. Else, you won't get the truth, nor how to recover.

Don't pull out that corporate b.s. bad manager excuse. The company purges any manager that tries to stand up to anything. Everyone knows that their direct manager can't do squat. People quit HONEYWELL.

People don’t leave companies, they leave bad, toxic bosses. HON is inundated with them. A fish rots from the head down and this place reeks.

Couldn’t agree more. The culture has drastically changed, headed up by inept so-called leadership & management. Implementing the seven layer matrix system is an excuse for accountability, especially when those chosen are the furthest thing from qualified and do not hold progress & innovation as being key. Fragile egocentric commanders rule and those who know more are deemed as threats & beaten down to the bottom. It’s pretty telling when half of HR leaves with the droves of talented project managers and engineers. One dog one bone culture.

HON is a toxic culture whereas great employees are quickly seen as threats that must be eliminated in order to survive constant RIF's.

That's part of Honeywell's stockholm syndrome effect to keep you around thinking things may change. things seem pleasant, there are opportunities everywhere...and you discover over time why that is. there is so many "leaders", directors, managers, etc...managers managing managers that manage other managers and so on, its comical and another reason people that aren't managers or supervisors can't advance in their careers.
