Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

All Hands Meetings

Recent hire here. Noticed a disturbing trend of these meetings titled “All Hands…” in the last 30 days. Both from my manager and my function. This isn’t normal parlance in my previous company. I interpret this to mean an emergency and we need to right the ship so to speak. Any words of wisdoms from experienced legacy people? Or is this just another anxiety inducing Honeywell tactic? It seems this company lives on inducing anxiety and stress in its employees. My goal is out in 2023.

The All-hands meeting is ALWAYS bad news that has to be delivered (e-mails can be ignored). The comprehensive list from Anonymous is spot on. I remember hearing almost all of those. You'll notice, they have a script and they will take no questions.

Then there is the quarterly Town Hall, that is on every leader's POR so you'll see one from corporate and then the SBG and then finally the head MF at your site one. My favorite is the corporate one that is chock full with useless presentations (SBG of the year, Chairman's award, etc). It's always some director or VP that gets the various "Team Award". There is never time for questions and answers except the token one at the end that is a planted question via the communication group. It either is a question on one of the Town Hall preso or it is the proverbial "What can I do personally to.....". Never hear questions on what we are concerned about.

@sve+1keKj7oz you forgot 401k match lump sum at end of December so if you retire before then, leave company or get laid off you get a big fat 0.

As mismanaged a company as there is. One of the worst companies I’ve ever worked for.

2% pay rises. Constant furloughs. Constant staff reduction. Disgusting and constantly undercut benefits.

If a company uses furlough as part of their annual business plans, maybe consider they are run but immoral and unethical enemies of the people.

depending on the org or business unit you're in, at least in IT, all hands tend to be more about grandstanding or showboating of the bizarre leadership within that org. one side of the mouth says one thing while the other says the opposite.

recent hire and you're already seeing the road we've all long traveled. get some $$ and find a better opportunity elsewhere. i just don't see any kind of future within this company.

All hands meetings are just a corporate tool trying to address chronic poor employee engagement scores. Enjoy the show those meeting are generally meaningless and occasionally funny if you stay for the Q&A.
Expect nothing ,Believe nothing, don’t charge overhead.

Let me be the first to respond, there are the ones looking for the exit and the ones in it for the long haul / steady pay. If you are smart and a risk taker, you may make a misstep and be part of a ‘layoff’. I was a PHX Eng from 2002 to 2020, great for a long time, but my ticket came up. Best wishes young grasshopper.
