Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

OCI Salary

I am currently working at Cisco, Sr Tech Leader title.
Base: $260k
Bonus: 15%
RSU: 75k/year (for next 4 years)

I cleared CMTS interview with OCI recently. They are offering $230k base and $600k RSU, no bonus. Shall I take the offer? They told me that this is the max they can offer for IC5 and they can't hire for IC6. Why the base pay is so low for IC5?

I was getting 300k$ as IC5 in Dubai, with split 60:40. However for years they paid 70-90% of bonus max. My colleagues got on average 200-220k$ for IC5.
The low salaries are the reason they made so many promotions to VP,l recently, not because those are extraordinary ppl but to keep in line with market wages.

Oracle strategy is to hire a high level engineer such as IC5, for a complex key innovative project; once they have figured out how to replace him with a cheaper team in India, they will let him go and rinse a repeat this process with someone else for a different project

I was IC5 when I was layoff... I would say ... Just stay with Cisco.
Oracle is a company with no innovation.

After the recent bloody layoff, why would Oracle hire IC5 and with such a high compensation, at a time when they save every penny?
This is just propaganda

The OP is lying thru his teeth about his "offered" salary.

Take it, but keep your Cisco job. I double dipped two jobs for years because they have no idea what you're doing esp. if working from home. Keeping meetings scheduled is the only trick, but sometimes you have to blow one off for the other. Either way, about 5 years of that and I just retired, since they'll never give you more RSUs anyway. But the signup bonus is worth it.

I was an IC4 and made nothing near that, not even half of that. Years with no raises as mentioned before.

Be careful, Oracle doesn't have a great reputation (from what I have heard). Could hinder
getting hired at a job when u want to leave oracle. mmmm, i'd stay with Cisco unless there is a good reason for leaving.

Make sure you have a plan if O lays you off, because as others here have said,. there is a good chance it will happen. Don't spend the RSU money before it vests.

The RSU's are golden handcuffs to keep you from leaving after not getting raises, and to get you to endure other unpleasantries

Take it- with the average analyst estimate the 600k becomes 900k or more. People who really make money make it in stock, not salary. It’s a bet that’s worth taking.

Why do you want to leave Cisco, and why oh why do you think Oracle would be a better place?

You think that's low for an IC5 at Oracle....funny.

Even still, don't take it. Go somewhere else. You will be an IC5 the rest of your life unless you move into management roles.

For IC4 and IC5 in NA atleast no further career path at O. U will be stagnant at the same role and pay for atleast a decade minimum. Even then u will get the regular 2% or 3% increase and its not worth it imho.

You can be laid off within the first year of employment. It definitely happens here. You’d have to evaluate that possibility.

Then expect zero increments and no career path unless you are good at brown nosing

It's location dependent. I saw another IC5 offer eval on Blind getting a $240k base offer and $800k RSU grant, in Seattle.
