@ah ah here. Moral of the story don’t check work emails or teams while on vacation. It can wait till you’re back.
I was on vacation. Checked my email and saw an invite for a day I was still OOO. I thought I was being fair and said can we move to when I’m back next week back then. They replied no they need me to join that meeting. I did and got let go. This was pre-ER when they were testing the waters with light layoffs I guess.
@OP , everyone is an "employee at will." Any company can terminate their employees for no reason at all. One could be laying on their death bed and an employer could still fire someone.
Sort of. During cascade 2 a co worker of mine was on vacation and was told that if the GP needed to fire him on one of those zoom calls, it would just wait until he got back...because the company values his work life balance lol
