Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Stuck in Limbo

So the surplus came and went. Scrapped the Signature team. The manager and some team members were surplussed and off payroll December 1st. As for the remaining people left, half the team was moved into RSM positions. The other half, What I am currently in, are left in limbo in some type of swat role. When I ask, all they say is they will know more after the 2023 budget. The questions i have are we just waiting to be thrown out in January? If we are going to be surplussed, why didn't they just get it over with in November? Are they just making us miserable, so we quit by ourselves? Are they surplussing cor RSM's and moving us into those roles in January? Nothing makes sense. Any serious insight would be greatly appreciated.

You might qualify for a wire / prem tech position with your relevant swat/RSM douche role signature team experience.

In Boise, ID the 2 Sig reps were moved into RSM and ASM roles. The exising RSM and ASM's were sent packing.

Fiber Event Lead… Is that where they set up tables with spin wheels on them to hand out ink pens and frisbees? Another clown position that will meet it’s demise soon enough.

The 40 FN he drops is another example of position overlapping. They have FN reps for selling FN. How many different job titles need to be gathered around the fire station dinner table? But I understand someone has to hold the camera for the twitter photo.

Let's all be honest. Too many positions overlaying other positions all for the same products we sell. Example, you have a fiber event lead position, then you have a signature role helping out, and then you got the cor retail with the event, and all to get that sale that will hit all of their buckets in each org. So then att has to pay them each for that sale. Doesn't make sense. Sad but we need to streamline the business. Same with first net, you got cor selling it, indirectly selling it, and those guys going to events with cor or ar dealers to sell. Again att has to pay everyone for that 1 sale. But I may be wrong...

It does not stop. I was with BellSouth/AT&T for 33 years and it was continuous hiring then downsizing.

Yep. You and your group are likely all gone in the next layoff. Probably in March sometime (T loves layoffs in the 3rd month of each quarter).

The signature team lol. Give me a break. That brings no revenue for the company. Look for another job instead of being "miserable" just to get surplus again later

Similar situation, except I had a high eval. I was on hold until the low performer was let go about six weeks later. I then had a choice to leave, move to Kentucky or work from home (my choice, Illinois employee). Now with no call center experience or never any directs, I had a union team in Kentucky. The flattened job descriptions had me in work force management (coach) when I was a report writer. I lasted three months and sold again to Atlanta, then California. No training but paid until finally surplussed with the Direct TV (Denver) sale.

Nice try douche. ARSM's are surely kissing my a-s for the 40 FirstNet I drop in your locations for free, yet I am burnt out and lazy? But I guess you do not need help in clearing PPVGA, Data, Next, and PA. In this environment, you have DOS a-s kissing material written all over your pathetic response.

The serious insight is those are all clown roles. Signature team, swat team, event specialists…non revenue generating positions. You don’t generate revenue or change the outcome of any dashboard despite what you are lead to believe. You show up to stores acting like you are dropping knowledge gems but in reality you are just soaking up the time of the front line workers and putting more pressure on them to meet your metrics for you. Most in these roles are full of burnt out and lazy former retail workers that will eventually make a choice to go back to retail or find work elsewhere.
