New Year Exodus

How bad do you all think the annual exodus of people will be this year given the furloughs and RIFs? I think it is going to be pretty bad. I'm making my plans for sometime in the spring.

I am so excited to plan my future after Honeywell. Just thinking about it gets me going. I can work on my old car, fix a bunch of electronics and maybe even work on my garden. None of this was possible when working for Honeywell. Honeywell, please shut down SPS and fire John Boy. He has destroyed everything that is SPS. DA the vampire needs to go too. Count me among the exodus.

Leaving this mess to start a new role on Jan 2... only been at Honeywell a little over 6 months and was hired into band 4, but this place was terrible. Giving up bonus. Giving up 401k match. All worth it. Made my last working day 12/29 due to "unlimited" vacation to avoid giving them free furlough... and taking all that vacation.

To anyone left (especially SPS), look elsewhere. I have been in the workforce for 20+ years and Honeywell is an embarrassment as an employer. You can all do so mich better. Move on and be happy. You get one life... make it count.

If you know them, then you'll know them. To identify them here would not be right. No personal information on this site please. Except for the incompetent leaders that are the cause of our grief. Even then, don't name them directly.

Yes, several employees leaving at the end of the year or have already left. Most are fed up and found other opportunities.

Yes, correct on age! Not sure why that matters? They want to keep those with 30+ years experience around. Most of the lab engineers in phoenix are "engineers" in name only, and have zero mechanical experience. Wokism has destroyed the lab.
And the dude is Phoenix lab. Sure it happens at all sites, SH and DV all have retention names circulating the gossip mill.

@3sjb, just a quick reality check. No argument with your description of the situation, but...if someone's father fought in WW2 (as mine did), they would have to be in their 60s+. ;-)

Ha, I KNOW THE DUDE!
Yes, he was punching out of the Phx lab, then got a Retention Bonus, and since we sit in that idiodic open floor plan, we all can hear his conversations, and the retention bonus was Huge, as discussed with his wiffie in DV that he talks to for the majority of the day! Blah, Blah , Blah, "But for $50K I will stay for another two years", blah , blah , blah. Yep, a future sharper, block one, full vacuum, ba--s and all, as they say. But hey, his dad did fight in WW2 (wrong side), but who cares these days, RIGHT!

Just saw on LinkedIn few Sr Dir and VPs are leaving or retiring. They are actually few of the good guys. So the decay at the top will continue to spiral into the ground

I know there are retention bonuses for certain employees (at least in the lab in AZ). My coworker got one when he told our boss he was "short time". The boss left shortly after that (guess he didn't get the same type of offer). The funny thing is my coworker was quietly quitting and now he has an incentive to stick around and coast by. The director is from Intel and wouldn't know his own individual contributors even if they had their badges on as they synergized with his wife.

Actually if you READ the official policy the "unlimited vacation" requires management approval based on business needs.
Could you run a business if everyone took 45 weeks a year off? Yeah, I didn't think so.

And yes, folks can get fired. How do I know? I reported someone for taking unapproved time off. Before the flaming starts you may ask why I did that? BECAUSE I HAD TO COVER HIS BU-T BECAUSE HE DIDN'T WANT TO WORK! I never have a problem covering someone for normal vacation but when their abuse starts impacting my family gloves are off.

What is interesting Is that the manager "moved" to a new role.

And folks wonder why work is moving offshore. Absolutely because of costs including id--ts who don't want to work because they think they're sooooo special

Why would anyone actuallt think that "unlimited vacation" actually means unlimited vacation? No business could run like that.
It really is simple. HON doesn't have to accrue vacation costs or pay you when you leave.

Since you plan on leaving go for taking as much time as you can.

If your manager doesn't fire you then he/she should also be fired. And that would be good. Too many workers getting targeted and not enough managers.

Agree 100%, the Exodus of Q1 2023 will be monumental ! We have to "schedule" our UNLIMITED VACATION, and then our first level manager/political officer, needs to "Approve". I put in the first 4 weeks of January, then I am planning some medical sick time, that darn covid keeps coming around :-), a fake funereal on east coast (week long), then back for more vacation(which I will schedule via email during the fake funereal). That will get me thru to March , when I hit the eject handle. Don't plan on these ilk giving you anything, you need to TAKE it from them. I plan on charging, and not working, until they do something. There have been people at our facility, that did not even charge, or communicate for 8 months, and nothing happened to them. They just kept cashing the check, something management does not want to get out. I have seen it several times, first hand. My own DIY severance package.

If you ever were impacted or worked a transition for a site that was being closed you would know that some employees are, in fact, offered a retention bonus in order to keep someone at the site to do the work until it closes. Not necessary for a real small site that aren't turning out products and the work can be absorbed by someone else.

But you are correct in that this isn't out of consideration for employees but just Hon trying to keep products moving.

The days of consideration for employees are loooooooonnnnnnggggggg gone.

retention bonus?? how long have you been at Honeywell? honestly if they could get away with unpaid and/or child labor they probably would. Honeywell is not in the business to care for their employees. We already have 75% of team leaving and a few have already left, by the end of the year. what a joke.

I'm out by March. Hoping they will ask for volunteers but I doubt I'd be accepted. But I hope.

The one thing that may keep me a bit longer is if my site is selected for transition and they offer a retention bonus.
