Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Question for fellow Nike associates

Is it better to stay working at Nike during these challenging times or would it be better to consider a Career change?
What other careers could Nike associates with our experience enter?

As for me, I'm on the fence because I can't stand living in Oregon. I'd like to move but have no idea yet what other careers to research.

Portland has become a dangerous place to live. Everyone knows it, they just won't admit it. You probably would be safer living in Saint Louis Missouri. Look for jobs back there.

nothing personal but this wholly subjective and deeply personal question asked in this anonymous layoff forum is indicative of the caliber of the employees Nike is keeping around. Again, nothing personal.

The issue most people at Nike has is that they overpay the majority of people to work in Portland. So, no matter what you do outside of Nike it is a pay cut. You either su-k it up while you can and make the bank or you chose happiness without the money. Everyone is different. Not everyone is at the same place in life. Everyone should look out for #1 and do what is best for them. If you are young with flexibility and options likely get out. If established at mid or late career then ride it out as long as possible.

Such a clueless question! You speak of Bike associate as if this is a field of study! People have all type of backgrounds in Nike from MBA, to business to marketing to IT to programming to mechanical engineering to software engineering 🤔
