Never mind the above snide "Captain Obvious" comment. Read the article the OP referenced and then, especially read the further article referenced by that article, concerning the asserted uselessness of AI in the telco space. The the content of the latter article strikes me as potentially crucial to know (if true), and not at all obvious.
They have a corporate mob boss as potus. Businesses can cut,merge,off shore,close stores. Whatever they want. For the first time in history they don’t even have to try to explain it. Give the boss a taste and you are good. Union guys will sit and cheer it on. Cult45 is in full control
