For anyone new and reading, this company has been firing annually each year since 2012. There is absolutely no thought or reason.

We got a 2.55x bonus factor, money is not a problem only greed

I’m struggling to understand the rationale behind these layoffs when the company appears to be doing fine financially. Leadership keeps cycling between aggressive hiring and sudden layoffs, which signals a lack of clear direction and long-term planning. If the goal is cost savings through outsourcing, that raises serious ethical and potentially legal questions.

If anyone in leadership is reading this, I genuinely hope you provide real support to help them transition internally, prioritize them over external hiring, and don’t leave them to fend for themselves in an already brutal job market.

And to those still here, please speak up. Raise these concerns with your leaders. Silence only makes this easier to repeat and next time, it could be any of us.

Fabulous post! Hang tough. My group has barely spoken of cuts. I know some consolidations of BUs - maybe that affected layoffs? VERY weird. Chelms cuts? Thought they were doubling capacity? Offshoring? Early retirement? AI? What were some reasons if any were given? Ugh.

I don’t know why I’m writing this.
Maybe I just need to put the pain somewhere.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve watched friends get laid off at Analog Devices.
Coworkers who were smart, dedicated, and performing well. People who cared deeply about their work. Seeing this has left me shaken.
Life doesn’t feel real some days. This company doesn’t feel real either.

What hurts even more is knowing that single earners have been laid off. People who were the sole support for their families. People who had just returned from maternity leave, trying to find their footing again, only to be shown the door. It is hard to reconcile these decisions with any sense of humanity.

I love engineering. I truly do. But for the first time, I find myself questioning the career I chose.

When I joined as an engineer, engineering companies felt different. There was a sense of purpose, building real things, solving hard problems, valuing the people who did the work.

Even in turbulent times, reducing headcount, while always painful, could at least be understood as a necessity.

But this feels different.

Stocks are up. Bookings are solid. The business is doing well. And yet people are being laid off across the board. Is this what we became engineers for, to deliver shareholder value at the expense of the very people who build the products?

What’s even harder to accept is watching layers of bloated middle management remain untouched, collecting fat paychecks, while teams that actually build, innovate, and execute are cut.

Everything is being pushed offshore, hollowing out the core. Little by little, nothing is left for the folks who built things from the ground up.

I’m grieving, not just for the friends who lost their jobs, but for what this industry is becoming. For what this company used to stand for. For the quiet understanding that loyalty, craftsmanship, and engineering excellence no longer seem to matter the way they once did.

I lament this sad state of affairs.

Massive layoffs is beginning in Wilmington as manufacturing will no longer be performed on site there. Slow reduction in staffs beginning as they steer process elsewhere.

I heard 5% headcount reduction, with an emphasis on keeping it quiet. Not performance related but due to shifting business priorities, whatever that means. Lots of money being made, but that no longer correlates with employment. And we wonder why no one is motivated except the sickos at the top making these decisions.

Layoffs in Dallas happened this week. I think they're trying to reduce the Dallas headcount by 100 by the end of this year. ADI recently renewed their lease on the Dallas building but got less office space

They just layed off people at Beaverton, OR location. Friend works there and told me at least 5 people they know/work with personally, could be more.
