Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Raise without promotion?

I've worked and pushed extra hard for my in-seat promotion all year, after years on team and at same low C-level trying to get my AVP which I see as finally earning your stripes within Citi.

I've done pretty well with raises the past couple years and pretty sure I've got to be maxing out my salary in the undisclosed 'salary band(s)'. Been getting signals that it's looking pretty positive for this new year also, but no sign or mention of promo.

Is it possible to be earning within the next band without the badge?

My manager told me the other day in our 1-1 that promotions will become nearly non existent. If you want a promotion you need to move. Doesn't make much sense, basically jack of all trades, master of none scenario.

VP is where you want to stay at.. any higher you will likely be let go in years to come.

@cy People are getting 4-5%? I took on extra work and I feel they may still give me 3%

You can check your salary band in your WD profile.

If you’re close to the max maybe they will give more bonus. But it tends to still be peanuts unless you are at least top tier VP.

@cy

Same is true for VPs, Ds and MDs. No one is safe. Just depend on the current team structure + how good are you in convincing people that you are cheap and indispensable.

Just sit back and accept the 4-5%. Promotion only puts a target on your back for job discontinuance. Everyone in my department who has been promoted to SVP in the past decade are gone through terminations. I have been a VP for more than 20 years, but I'm still here! If the salary is not enough, move on from Citi.

In seats are rare and are usually given to avoid losing a person to a different area. If you want a promotion; start applying. If you're good you will get it or they will give you that in-seat so you stop trying.

You need for learn Hindi or Tagalog moving forward. Unless you are a front line manager facing customers. No future in back offices. All moving overseas or AI after that. No whining. You didn't get the memo obviamente

No. Once you hit the upper limit of the band your increases will be limited (up to 1-2% max), in order to keep you below the salary inflation so that you do not cross into the upper band.
