Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

When is MF accountable?

MF has been in position and seen through this entire DEBACLE! Frankly, I take offense with him sitting on stage presenting 101 corporate Finance - we all went to college and understand how it works. Do your job and EXPLAIN the changes we are making to navigate this storm and improve.

Under MF, our stock price has TANKED… not a great outcome for a CFO.

WAKE UP NIKE BoD !!

He’s an investment banker. Never had corporate finance experience until he came to Nike and we all know how great Nike’s finance organization, processes and tools are...

Chief strategy officer reports to him (it's an altogether a different matter that she hasn't worked in corporate strategy her whole life), so yes he is accountable.

His job is to nail budgets, save money, approve investments in the right place, decline them in the wrong ones, balance competing interests, etc etc etc. It's way more than bean counting, and it matters.

What grade would any of you give him on any of those?

His job is to report better results than the estimates in a press release every three months.

They swapped FTE’s for NFT’s under MF’s tenure

CFO is awful. His job is to guide investors. That is clearly not happening from earnings day plunge.

Can’t even set up an investor day.

We blamed previous CEO for all things. We blamed him, MM, HON, VA, AC and then MF. Is the new CEO any different? He came in with lots of fanfare and while pivoting the roadmap and products is a lot to ask for in a year, his leadership decisions are worse than previous CEO - MF still here, TH is worse than MM, AM no better than HON, VA still here with bigger scope. These leaders cannot pivot products or people.

The issue is bad product, d-mb prior ceo focus on direct causing share losses, tariffs causing low margins and cr-ppy performance in other geo like China. I don’t think cfo is great but none of this is in his control anyways. All he can do is cut costs. You want him to do that ?

So the CFO isn’t responsible, the CEO isn’t responsible- then who is?

You're barking at the wrong tree . His peers make shortsided decisions and you blame the messenger

If he is merely a numbers guy, thats all the more reason to boot him out and get Andy Campion back.

He doesn’t make changes or set strategy. The ceo does. He is merely the numbers guy. His job is to tell Wall Street what happened and outlook . A bean counter. You give him too much credit.
