Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

Bah humbug

First, I want to acknowledge that I am grateful to currently be employed at HCSC, especially given the broader economic climate. That said, as a 25+ year employee, this is the first year I can recall not receiving any form of holiday acknowledgment. In past years, this has included something modest, such as a small gift card or approval for a team lunch.

This year, there was no recognition at all. I’ve heard that some departments may have still had small lunches or gift cards, so I’m curious whether this reflects broader financial constraints, departmental differences, or if others have had a similar experience.

A lot of departments do their "holiday" lunch in Feb/Mar. I expect mine to be then as it was last year

@a7 you must be in HR. I always wonder how you get the budget for your monthly lavish breakfast buffets with fancy flower arrangements!

I wonder how big the celebrations were in the c-suite. Budget busters I’m sure.

When I was still with the company I was told by my senior manager that different areas get different budgets. we usually only had either food catered in a conference room for a couple of hours or potlucks.

@a7 that’s awesome!! Our department didn’t do anything:/ it was a bit of a shame but I know that the company is not doing well financially, so I understand. But I’m happy at least some departments got to celebrate.

We had a nice Christmas buffet with open bar and an enormous potluck the following week.

Say what you will for the company's challenges and so many posters' cynicisms, but my department made sure to feed us this month.

We received an ‘enjoy the holidays with family’ type of email from our VP. Each department was given a certain amount to spend. Our department sent us each a small gift plus they hosted a lunch in the office last week, telecommuters had the option to join. Many did, it was great to see them.

Leaders were given a holiday celebration budget -- based on headcount -- comparable to the amount last year.
