Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Sounds like Pending Layoff

My manager just kinda informed us in a soft way that the budget is tight and layoffs are probably pending. She says that I am a corporate employee but I am working under a states plan. When layoffs happen, do corporate employees get cut too or that particular plan.

Yes, they do. I was a corporate employee who was laid off.

@jv I mean, it's not that we're "hiring more and more VPs" as we're hiring more and more of Brian's friends from Humana. We created an entire layer of them between the prior VPs and Brian himself. They naturally are hiring THEIR friends from Humana, who would feel safest bringing in someone with experience at Humana. Once you're three layers deep with people who don't know Centene's architecture, the obvious play is to hire Project Managers to get you answers da---t.

IT does not have any budget constraints. We keep hiring more and more VPs.

I can't say for your current circumstance, but in the past they have had mass layoffs that hit both corporate and state employees.

A few years ago it seemed like almost every department took at least a small hit with losing at least a couple of people, while other departments got hit hard. (And some people got shuffled to closely related departments)

I have ZERO knowledge, but wouldn't be surprised if something like that happens again.

Also i feel like in the past some departments were told the budget is going to be cut, please find away to reduce costs so we can keep the number of people we need to layoff to a minimum. I hope departments are given that option again.
