Is anyone else’s department setting insane expectations to the point where you feel like they are doing this so they have “cause” to fire people to avoid an actual layoff?

OP - It is probably a combination of corporate level goals. They are trying to get us to quit first by putting us on warnings/PIPs and giving us impossible goals to meet, and if we don't quit within their targeted timeline, they will try to find or make up reasons to fire us. I am praying for everyone that is being mistreated by this company.
That's what happened to me. Years of exceeding expectations then new management was brought in and a reason was made up to fire me and tarnish my name. I'd rather be RIF'd. If you still have a job, don't complain.
@b2 Yep. Completely agree. I’ve been here a minute too. All of the sudden people’s attitudes have shifted. The metrics are insane. We are getting worked to the point of complete burnout. We also keep getting threats of being audited even harder come January 1. We are already severely micromanaged. It’s a mess. They are making their strongest workers want to quit. Sadly, I’m starting to think that’s the goal.
@OP I was recently put on a warning for not meeting metrics, also training a new hire and that did not matter. Talking to a few of my co workers I found out they were or knew others who had shared they were also on a warning. I have worked here for over 10 yrs and never been on a warning before and always get high praise for my service. Seems really punitive around here, and I know its not just me. So much bean counting, there is no way to have quality and quantity. But if you lack quantity seems like you are punished. Everyone is just trying their best and we are all exhausted
