There are so many redundant resources, too many FTEs who just follow-up (micromanage) , the actual ground work resources are contractors.
If ground workers (mostly contractors) are laid off , the FTEs will have to work which they are not used to and don't have much expertise.
AI is yet not leveraged in most of the tech teams it does not make sense to reduce tech ground workers.
As usual, other companies yelled “AI is it” so Citi, not wanting to be left out also yelled “YEAH…..AI is the way”. Then leaned toward the nearest Citi MD and said “what did we agree to? “
AI promises were made that it’d save tons of $ and its not panned out like what was promised. So, they need to come up with volumes of cash to prove the share holders that all is well. So layoff the people.
Layoff in tech? Dunno about that but to be honest it’d make as much sense as anything else they do around here. Layoff the division that actually develops and support the very thing ( AI ) that you made promises over. The very groups that can make AI happen, yeah, let those guys go. Then later scratch your head as to why AI is not taking off like you wanted.
