Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

It is wild watching people with zero leadership ability get promoted anyway

When someone has no idea how to manage and cannot work with people, they default to barking orders and scaring everyone into compliance. It is the classic bully move, and somehow it is exactly the behavior that keeps getting praised and rewarded here. The ones who build people up get ignored, and the ones who tear people down keep climbing. Completely illogical.

You have two days to respond. Longer than that will appear suspect.

They might be shifting from people managers to transactional managers so people don’t notice when they are replaced by AI.

Most of the management can hardly read a simple email.

I was told the SVP who let myself and my team go was vying for an EVP title. Little to no strategic vision was given to us and those who are still there are wondering what the strategic direction is. There are a lot of people who remain doing stuff because “she wants this done” but they aren’t given any context. The only rule you need to understand to protect yourself is learn how to kiss the ring and be a gopher. Oracle WAS a company that respected and developed talent. They don’t have that ethos anymore.

Some people are experts at getting the job done; others are experts at getting the credit. You get what you focus.
