Consolidate all production under the Asia region and aligning reporting into a single Manufacturing hierarchy could improve speed, clarity, and execution.

I remember a few yrs ago, I heard of talks of moving all production to Singapore because it's a lot cheaper. And that Illumina was being courted by their economic board. Not sure if it was true though!

You are right on spot. Yet there have been multiple promotion recently where a person who knows next to nothing is promoted to director just because of good apple polishing skill.
Let's see how the new regional head is going to rope in all the silos or mini kingdom and align them with global goals.
