We obviously didn't need most of them!

@cn ha, they tried that once and now are realizing how much wired bandwidth in the home is needed. Had Lowell not sold out on the fiber build, we’d have 20M+ fiber connections by now and the P&L would be cruising. Wireless got fat and complacent during a time when you could do no wrong. The wireless market is now saturated, so you are seeing the realities of 10yrs+ of mismanagement.

It’s still a $130B company, just restructuring/repositioning.

I would hope they would shed more stores, those people were really never in telecom. They have us a bad name.

Verizon lays off 13,000 employees in December only to regain the exact number of employees from frontier when the merger is complete.

For sure. This is a shrinking company, not a growing company.

AT&T Bell System had over one million employees back in the late 1970s/early 1980s.

Shrinking employee counts is nothing new in Telecom. Downsizing has been going on for years and years and years, etc.

A more relevant comparison is Verizon headcount vs. direct competitors, AT&T and T-Mobile.

Nah. I’ll ride it to the bottom. Then collect unemployment. Then retire.
