Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

The job I was laid off from is now being hired for?!?!

I was part of the layoff in October, and I noticed today my position along with a couple others laid off on my team have been posted on Target’s career page. They made some slight adjustments but it is almost exactly the job I was laid off from. Has anyone else seen this or have any advice? It’s a little hurtful to be backfilled less than 2 months after being laid off…

I noticed a couple of weeks ago that my role that was "eliminated" in the RIF in October was now posted in Target India. I reached out to a former peer and they confirmed that the role was being moved to TII. This is not something that just happens overnight, this was planned and I would be concerned for other HQ employees that their roles will be moved overseas. Target is no longer the company that it was years ago and as far as I am concerned I hope it tanks.

I know someone who took a new role and their backfill was posted just after several people were laid off from the same team. Could be a situation like that.

Not being nasty here, but all those positions being reposted means someone wanted you gone. Don’t believe L7’s when they say they didn’t know ahead of the RIF.

Did you sign the severance agreement? If you didn’t sign your severance yet, you could always consult with an employment lawyer to see what they have to say about it.

They did this before, and no surprise doing it again. The system will block you with 90 days of separation because that would constitute a reinstate. Every single merit job in the DC except LWW there was another team doing those same functions 10 years ago that was eliminated, only to see that “non value added” work added back given new titles within the following year.

Apply for the job.

Apply for the job if you want your job back.

They're allowed to re-post jobs they laid off, and claim they made a mistake. They're not required to tell you your old job is open again.

@OP Unfortunately not surprised here. I know a team that's going to be hiring for a role that had several eliminated-same job.

@a3 it’s my actual role. The title is very specific. It is the same title as my role but on level higher - a promotion I had been asking for for years due to my scope of work changing over the years….

There are some evergreen posts that departments share when hiring for a role. Are you sure it’s your actual role or is it just the same general title?
