Why is it so hard to keep us properly informed about what's going on? Why do we have to guess and put together scenarios based on a sentence here and an email there? What does it cost them to be open with us? Even if it's bad news, it's always better to know than just guess.

HR has always operated on a need to know basis. Every layoff has been that way. If questions are asked openly about those who were laid off, they will be brushed aside. The focus is only on the work. Never on the people who DO the work. If we were all robots, it would be easier for them. Oh wait, AI! When will AI replace HR and the executives???? I bet they won’t allow AI to go that far!
Almost all info is on a need to know basis. Employment here is transactional. Everyday someone is working on how to get more out of you while paying you the least amount possible. If that means layoffs, demotion, or salary cuts then you will find out when it happens.
Transparency would be nice, but they won't tell us what is going on
