I met him here before his 2023 layoff, and we ended up staying close even after he found a new job, only to get hit with another layoff six months later. He bounced back again and landed something new, and now he's been cut for the third time this week. He's living my greatest nightmare. How do you even deal with something like that? There's something deeply broken in the way this whole system works.

I also was able to come back to Wells after being displaced. I had 8 months of severance but had found a job early into that but salary wasn’t great. An old boss from one of my earlier roles reached out and asked me if I’d be interested, so ultimately found my way back at nearly the same salary. Yes, you’ll find that Wells pays better than almost anything out there. Going into CIC three days a week, and if it goes to four so be it.
I wish I was laid off but they fired me for fake review because my boss is evil to the core. Now I will lose everything because how do you get a job in your 60s making six figures.
Honestly, it's not that bad if you can hop on the wagon again. If you manage to get a role during your nonworking/severance period, you essentially get a few months of paid vacation. That is what happened to me. I returned after 4 months and and kept everything. They have resources to help you get back in, but a lot of people leave very angry and don't consider that it could be a good option for them. If it happens again, I plan on traveling the world.
I also interviewed for other banks but honestly the pay and benefits are pretty cr-p compared to Wells
The poster who said something about moving to Thailand … my old boss who was single ended up quitting the rat race and moving to Portugal. Told me that she’s living large off of $2000 a month. Never coming back.
@a4 - And learn May Thai and join an underground fighting league where all the opponents look like an Asian version of Schart.
I got laid off by Wellsfargo two times. No big deal my friend.
I actually am a bit jealous of your friend. Sounds like that person has a great ability to find new work. Me? Displaced and looking. Interviews (my ability anyway) stink. I'm trying. Lotta jobs out there, but pay is lower is what I'm finding.
That really stinks - feeling for your friend as he gets chewed through corporate America's meat grinder. Nobody in the US is safe any longer in corporate america - with AI, offshoring, and other tactics to make employees lives terrible. Wishing him well - he may want to rethink his profession and either go to a trade or municipal work as it likely won't get any better any time soon.
You sell everything and move to Thailand.
